Description:

Rhizome filiform, widely creeping, subglabrous with few and fine roots. Fronds 2- to 4-pinnatifid, glabrous or set with stellate hairs, segments entire or serrate, venation anadromous. Sori marginal with 2 indusial valves, receptacles usually not exserted.

Range Description:

Known from two subpopulations, on the slopes of Corazn and Chimborazo volcanos, in Pichincha and Chimborazo provinces, Ecuador.

Justification

An epiphytic fern endemic to Ecuador, where it is known from two subpopulations, on the slopes of Corazn and Chimborazo volcanos. The locales are probably inside what are now the Reserva Ecolgica Los Ilinizas and the Reserva de Produccin Faunstica Chimborazo, respectively. The type is missing and the taxonomic situation uncertain; considered Data Deficient until the situation is resolved. No specimens of this species are housed in Ecuadorian museums. Apart from habitat destruction, no other threats are known.
